I woke up this morning thinking Itsy was up early and kicking me. Then I realized the kicking was in the same spot every three seconds EXACTLY and went on for a few minutes straight. I'm pretty sure Baby Reid was hiccupping! Experienced moms have been telling me how fun it is when I start to feel the hiccupping and, I have to say, it was awfully darn cute.
Baby Reid has probably been hiccupping intermittently since the late first or early second trimester, although I couldn't feel the hiccups at that early stage. One theory is that the contractions prepare the unborn baby's respiratory muscles for breathing after birth. Who knows.
